In our modern day life we spend so much time on technology that is negatively affecting our health. As an example, did you know that when you bend your head forward at a 60-degree angle of flexion you are putting ~60 lbs of pressure on your neck and upper back? No wonder your neck, upper back and head hurt!
Overactive/Uninhibited Muscles: Pectoral Group, SCM, Upper Trapezius and Levator Scapula Weakened/Inhibited Muscles: Deep Cervical Flexors, Rhomboids, Serratus Anterior and Lower Trapezius
How can you help to defend yourself?
1) Be mindful of how you are sitting/your posture and make corrections as needed throughout the day.
2) Stretch often throughout the day by pulling your shoulders back, lifting your chest up and pulling your chin back so your head is more directly over your shoulders
3) Avoid spending long periods of time in front of your screen by getting up and walking around for short periods of time.
