Driving for a length of time can be one of the most stressful things that can be done to a back and neck. How can that be if you are just sitting there and nothing is happening? Well, there is a lot happening and a lot of it is bad if you do not fix the issues.
- Nose and toes in the same direction. Don’t let your feet and legs turn outward as you drive. Keeping your toes pointing in the same direction as your nose will hopefully keep things nice and straight. This will help to decrease some of the stresses normally placed on your back and neck while you drive.
- Take breaks. This is very difficult to do when you just want to get somewhere and don’t want to waste time. While it is difficult, it is also worth it to give your back and neck time to stretch out for a couple minutes.
- Take your wallet out of your back pocket. Imagine what you would feel like if you sat on something for hours that would make your pelvis unlevel. Put it in your center console or front pocket. Just stop sitting on it. Your back and buttocks will thank you profusely for doing this.
